Overview

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Tutors based in the Waterloo Region to join our educational team. This role involves providing personalized, in-home academic support to students aged 10–17 across Math, English, and Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), helping them achieve their learning goals through exam prep, assignment help, and lesson review. The ideal candidate will have strong subject knowledge, excellent communication skills, a passion for teaching, and reliable transportation to travel to students’ homes. Tutors play a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment and inspiring students to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-on-one tutoring sessions at the student’s home or a location of their choice, tailored to their individual needs and learning style
  • Assist students aged 10–17 with homework, assignment questions, exam preparation, and understanding challenging concepts in Math, English, and/or Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
  • Review specific course material with students or provide deeper instruction on topics as requested
  • Create a supportive, engaging, and encouraging atmosphere that promotes confidence and motivation
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and student performance
  • Drive to student locations within the Waterloo Region using your own vehicle

Requirements

  • Must be based in the Waterloo Region
  • Must have your own reliable vehicle — tutors are required to travel to students’ homes
  • Proven experience in tutoring, teaching, or working in an educational environment
  • Minimum 80% average in relevant post-secondary or senior secondary coursework related to the subject(s) you wish to tutor (e.g., Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English)
  • Comfortable tutoring students between the ages of 10 and 17
  • Ability to cover a range of topics within your subject area, including course-specific material, exam prep, and assignment review
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively
  • Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed
  • Ability to be engaging for diverse learning needs

Compensation & Availability

  • Pay: $20/hour
  • Hours: Available between 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 7 days a week
  • Schedule: This is a part-time, on-demand role — hours are not set or guaranteed and depend entirely on student demand. You will be contacted when a student requests tutoring that matches your subject area and availability.
